LA CANSERA DEL CAMINO

OOOH... THE WHEATHER

>Hello, fans of La Cansera.

¬
Oh, the time... The eternal movement of the clock hands. Yes, the incessant ticking that makes us forget that the time exists. Who hasn’t had time to do something? Who hasn’t seen the time pass? Who hasn’t to run behind time?

We haven’t had the time to do many things, the time has flown past us. This probably explains why twelve months have passed since we gave you our last information. We blame the time or, rather, the lack of time.

But let's stop blaming things that aren’t to blame. We will say, simply, that we have spent our time busy with our duties.

As for the garden, the harvest was medium. The drought has decimated the crops throughout the year and water reserves, which so generously mother nature put at our disposal, ran out in the middle of last August. Some rain has brought a little moisture, although only favourable to the growth of weeds. The direct consequence was that we spent a lot of time weeding to avoid using any chemicals. We have canned green beans, zucchini and peppers, and prepare jam of strawberries, raspberries, cherries and bitter oranges (Sevillanas). Onions, potatoes, pumpkins, beans, chickpeas and beetroots are stored in the cellar.

La Cansera, and it’s vocation to open its doors, has had a year rich of emotions. Visits and meetings from family and close friends to share the peace and tranquility has been the height of great moments of happiness and joy. Let's not forget the pilgrims, both those who discovered La Cansera for the first time and those who stopped once again in this corner of paradise. According to the statistics, 183 466 pilgrims arrived in Santiago in 2011, 33% less than in 2010 and 25% more than in 2009 (Source: http://peregrinossantiago.es/esp/post-peregrinacion/informes-estadisticos /). Don’t be shocked, because not everyone stopped at La Cansera.

Surely you have not forgotten about Jaco. Do you remember that ball of white hair, that adorable stuffed animal? Well, that polar bear has reached adulthood with his weight of 70/75 kg and height 75 cm to the shoulders. He is still a mountain of softness and tranquillity.

At the end of last August arrived Beo, a five-week-old lab. A puppy that, from Jaco's point of view, was just a four-legged sandwich. After a month keeping them separate so they could adapt, we were able to leave them together day and night with total peace of mind.  Apart from these inconveniences, which we hope will not last, they are adorable and give us a lot of love and loyalty. They form a good team, especially when it's time to eat the last treats ... (See the photos)

We have not advanced with our diy in La Cansera during the winter. Daniel has worked for six months in Paradela, so the little time available during the weekend has practically been devoted to creating a suitable space for Jaco and Beo.

We are already full of bustle at La Cansera and, of course, with the daily opening of its doors, symbolized by fresh water and fruits available to all pilgrims.

We are waiting for you in La Cansera. See you soon.
