WHAT'S THAT?

As the years go by, the house in the village of Pena A No 10 in the Parish of Ferreiros continues its vocation:
Nowadays, this old house, which we now call "The Cansera", opens its doors to pilgrims of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela.
As of today, we are not sure the exact date that it was built. According to our own observations of the arrangement of the walls and structure, as well as the angular links, we think it is a progressive construction. Based on stories and information from our neighbors and the elders in the village, this home has progressed, throughout its existence, through multiple and different ways of hosting. We still can not give precise dates, but we can establish the following chronological journey starting today and going back in time:
The Cansera del Camino
Hospitality toward the pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela.
TV Club.
The only television, in black and white, was located in a large room of the house. The old TV was given to the house as a gift from a well-to-do member of the village at the time. Neighbors gathered around the device to enjoy programs, view news and comment on current events , all of which was came from only two channels at the time.
School.
The same room that would, years later, become the TV Club served as a single-room classroom for elementary students between the ages of 5 and 10. They were attended by only one teacher.
City hall.
The house also served as the site of many weddings and there are numerous entries in the birth registry that list this house as the place of birth.
- Livestock Farm
An important breeding are for mules allowed many people work here. The animals were intended for sale in the Fairs nearby.
